As COVID-19 cases rise in California, Santa Barbara city leaders have voted to expand protection for essential workers, including farm workers and grocery store employees. The health and economic threats of COVID-19 remain, but elected officials hope their efforts to provide temporary quarantine housing, increased paid sick leave, and stricter regulation for employers to maintain cleanliness and report any COVID-19 cases within their facilities.
