Jeannine’s, a popular casual cafe/ restaurant that has been in the Santa Barbara area for over three decades, closed its downtown location on East Figueroa Street. That location, along with the Upper State Street and Goleta restaurants, have been closed due to the Covid pandemic, but the company announced that the closure was permanent.
While the pandemic has hit many restaurants hard, the permanent closing has surprised many people, as it was often very crowded before the shutdowns. Many nationally known restauranteurs have complained about the lack of support the federal government has provided to restaurants, some of whom have predicted as many as a third of all restaurants could go out of business.
